My algorithm has decided I need to see videos of people rubbing beef fat on their faces. "Ancestral skincare." "Our great-grandmothers did it."

I'm a vegetarian with acne-prone skin, so I'm not doing this. But I'm curious: has anyone here tried it? Is this the new coconut oil?
Yes, I'm the one who brought the cheese puffs.

It's the new coconut oil. In five years we'll have a thread about the tallow breakouts.

someone at work tried it and said her face is "really moisturized" and she "smells a little bit like a burger". those are direct quotes

the burger smell was not something I had considered

It's basically a rich, fatty moisturizer. On dry skin it might feel nice, like any heavy cream. But it's not magic, and it can clog pores if you're acne prone. Vaseline or a plain ceramide cream does the same job without the burger.

Every few years something from the kitchen ends up on our faces. Coconut oil, olive oil, honey, rice water, now tallow. Next year it'll be mayonnaise. Mark my words.

don't joke, people already compare American sunscreens to mayonnaise. it's a sign

Ok I'm sticking with my boring ceramide cream. Thank you all for saving me from becoming a burger.
