After 9 years of acne and every cream, pill and wash my derm could think of, I'm starting Accutane tomorrow. 6 months, assuming everything goes well.

I'm going to post updates here, partly for me and partly for anyone else thinking about it. Did all the blood tests and signed all the iPLEDGE stuff already. Stocked up on Aquaphor.

Good luck!!! I did it 3 years ago and it changed my life. The dry lips are no joke, keep a lip balm in every room, every bag, every coat pocket.

Stay out of the sun, for real. I got burned in 15 minutes at a barbecue while I was on it. It also made my nose bleed a bit in winter, so put some Vaseline inside your nose at night (glamorous, I know).

Month 1: Lips are a desert. Face is drier than it's been in my entire life. Breaking out MORE right now, which my derm warned me about. Nosebleeds started, BardOfPotidaea you were right about the Vaseline.

How are you feeling mentally? Not trying to scare you, but it can affect mood for some people. Just keep an eye on it and tell your derm if you feel off.
My girlfriend says I play too much. She's not wrong.

@ivyfox_42 I'm doing ok. A bit more tired than usual. My girlfriend has instructions to tell me if I'm being weird, and so far she says I'm the normal amount of weird

Month 3: no new spots in 2 weeks. TWO WEEKS. I don't think that's happened since I was 13. Still dry as a bone, but I don't even care.

Month 6, last pill today. Clear skin. Some red marks are left but they're fading. Thank you all for the encouragement and the lip balm advice. If you're on the fence: talk to your derm and ask all the questions. For me it was worth it.
